Centre of Promoting enterpreneurship Prague (CPEP)
Civic Association Centre of Promoting enterpreneurship Prague (Centrum podpory podnikání Praha, non profit organisation) was founded in 2009 with the main aim to support growth of education and to broaden offer of education for entrepreneurs and their employees.
Our main purpose is the cultivation of Czech business environment by providing professional and further education and supporting special employee instruments and thus creating new jobs particularly for health disabled or socially disadvantaged persons.
Our organisation tries to develop such acitivies which in the form of professional and further education, various consulting and other services will lead both to qualification and competitiveness improvement and creating new qualified work place. For this reason we prepare and realize various activities and we gradually broaden the range of our clients – future entrepreneurs or employees.
We develop our activities in two different, yet connected areas: firstly, it is the reintegration of former condemned back on the labour market, secondly, the area of equal employment opportunities.
Reintegration of former condemned back on the labour market
We want to contribute to the improvement of the situation in Czech prison system, which is not in the best shape. The main problems of that system are: overfilled prisons, recidivism of imprisoned person and huge indebtedness of former prisoners. We see the way of repairing this situation in effective social help to the people who are about to leave the prison but are not ready to integrate into the “normal society behind the gate”. The biggest hurdler lies in the fact, that do not have any employment because of their criminal past which makes a lot of potential employer refusing them.
Because of that, CPPP has started couple of projects in Czech prisons which are based on two basic principles. First phase is based on retraining courses for condemned which take a place in the prisons. The courses aim to retrain our clients in traditional workers fields such as metal manufacturing, welding and wood manufacturing. Besides that there is a social worker who sees them regularly and prepares them for future job out of prison. After unarrest follows immediate start in the new employment (maximum within 1 week), which is ensured by CPPP during the time of imprisoning. The employer is motivated to give a job to such employee by a financial contribution to the salary of our client (in firsts months) and lower general salary of that worker and by a fact, worker like that is much more grateful and many times more skilful than “normal” one.
We believe, that this way we have chosen is the right one because employed former prisoner kills slowly his financial debts, has smaller chance of coming back to the criminal life style and also he contributes to minimization of criminality. But first of all, such a man is much more happy and unruffled. Our first supported clients which stayed in their jobs till these days are living proof of that.
Equal employment opportunities
We want to contribute to the improvement of the conditions for starting entrepreneurship of parents (mainly mothers) because we believe it is the most effective way of comeback or integration on the labour market. Therefore one of the basic instruments is educational courses mainly focused on basics of entrepreneurship. The target group are either disabled or parents, women and mothers, which are coming back into the working process after paternal/maternal leave or they just experienced the discrimination because of their social status or identity. Through the training in basics of the business, work life balance and motivational psychological counselling we show our clients the way how to get self-fulfilment and succeed on the labour market. One of the new methods is co-working. It allows working in the groups which has a positive effect on motivation and self-esteem of starting entrepreneurs. It gives the members of co-working teams an important feedback. CPPP also successfully started to cooperate with international partners. From the partnership with entrenched Polish non-profit organization Fundacja MaMa, which focuses on women/mothers rights, we expect gaining knowledge and methods for improvement women rights on the labour market. Connection with Swedish partner, co-working space Coffice in Stockholm, is on the other hand the source for more professional and innovative keeping of our co-working centre Podnikání všem in city of Kladno.
We are now working on these projects:
- Reintegration programmes for persons leaving prisons – projects are aimed at minimalisation of the social disadvantage of persons leaving prisons and improving their position in the labour market.
- Entrepreneurship as an effective way to reintegrate women on maternity leave into the labour market – priority of this project is to support women and men on maternity leave and to facilitate their reintegration into labour market by starting their own entrepreneurship.
